Our number and letter cakes are incredibly popular, and it makes perfect sense. When celebrating a birthday, anniversary or milestone, the number is the story.
And nothing says “this cake is just for you” like a cake featuring the recipient’s initials.
But of course, there’s a potential issue around the size of the cake and the number of servings. The event could be a small gathering or a large one, whereas the cakes come in standard sizes.
A double letter or double digit cake, with the cakes being around 10 inches long, feeds, on average, around 20-25 people.
What if I need to feed more people?
If you need to feed more than 20-25 people, you’ve got a number of options.
You can order some cupcakes, or a classic cake, or even a simply iced sheet cake, to get the extra portions you need. All of our product pages show the number of people each cake serves, so you can make an informed decision about what extras you need.
If it’s a really big event, we do offer a large, three layered version of our number and letter cakes. A double digit serves 100, and this comes with a bespoke design at no extra cost.
What if I’m unlucky and my initials happen to be smaller letters? We’ve got you!
Over the years we’ve made hundreds of these cakes. One thing we’ve really thought about is there’s an element of “the luck of the draw” to how much cake you get.
So for example if you’re Marjorie Morrison, you’ve really hit the jackpot, as a “MM” cake will be pretty big, providing extra portions at no extra charge.
But if you’re Ian Ingram, you really drew the short straw when it comes to letters cakes, with an “II” cake being a lot smaller.
Similarly, if you happen to be celebrating a birthday with a “1” in it, you’ll get a bit less cake.
Which strikes us as a bit unfair.
That’s why we’re making our “plenty of cake promise” - if you order a double digit cake with the number “1” in it, or a double letter cake with the letter “I” in it, we’ll give you six cupcakes - on us!
So, How Much Should I Order?
-
For 20-25 people - a double digit or double letter cake;
-
For more than 25 - the same, plus some cupcakes, a classic cake or a plainly iced sheet cake;
-
For 100 people - a large double digit or double letter cake.
And if you’re still not quite sure what to order, get in touch - we’re always happy to talk.
